The first day of school is just around the corner for most, and for others it is already here. School dress codes can sometimes put a damper on a girl’s wardrobe after a summer filled with off the shoulder tops and shorts that may be a little too short for the classroom. I know for me, the past few weeks have been a frantic search for modest outfits that I can wear to school. Today, I’m compiling a few of my favorite looks that are comfortable, but still put together and perfect for this upcoming school year!
This first look is a bit dressier than I’d typically go for on a normal day of school, but it’s perfect for the first day. The shorts are from Lauren James and they have a longer inseam, which is a great for school. Since off the shoulder tops have been one of my favorite trends this summer, I didn’t want to pair the shorts with a boring tee and lose a fun element. This ruffle tank top adds that extra flare that I’m looking for, while still staying school appropriate. Pearls (last seen here) always make me feel a tad bit more confident, so adding them to this first day of school look just seemed right!
Now to completely shift the tables, this second look is something I’d typically wear on a lazier day. I’m a huge fan of leggings and a tee, but I like to keep it looking chic. My favorite leggings are from Gap and the bottom has the cutest zipper detail (similar pair here). I had to order the similar pair that I linked because I wear them so much! These leggings are thicker than normal leggings, so they are almost like a black dress pant. I can dress them up or down, and I don’t have to worry about wearing a longer shirt with them because of the thickness. I’ve paired them with a white tee, jean jacket, and sneakers to complete the comfy, casual look.
This final look is a pretty typical look for me because of the dark wash jeans and white blouse combo. I’d have to say an outfit like this is my go-to because it always looks like I tried, but really I just threw it on and ran out the door! The bell sleeves add the fun element to this look, and makes it trendier. Also, how fun is this scarf tied onto my tote?! I’ve really been loving bandana scarfs like this one, and tying them onto a bag is my favorite way to wear them!
Going back to school is made a lot easier with a wardrobe full of clothes you can actually wear to school. Luckily this upcoming season basics with a flare are big, so staying comfy, but still put together will be super easy! Don’t forget to follow me on social media to stay updated on my day to day life.
