18 All-Time Favorite Fashion & Beauty Essentials

Hello friends! Going along with my eighteenth birthday theme I thought I’d share my all-time favorite fashion and beauty essentials. Some of these I don’t wear/use daily, but I’m always going back to them! These aren’t in any particular order, just separated by categories.

1. Estee Lauder Double Wear

I’ve tried SO many foundations, drugstore and high-end. I’ve never found a foundation quite as good as Estee Lauder Double Wear. My face is covered in acne scares and dark spots, and DW is the only foundation I have found to cover them without it being cakey. It doesn’t slip and slide even on my skin’s most oily days. Estee Lauder is truly worth the money!

2. Sigma F80 Brush

I was doubtful that the Sigma F80 brush would really make a difference in the coverage and longevity of my Estee Lauder Double Wear, but it totally does. I used to use a Beauty Blender, but got this brush last Christmas. It was clear from the first application that the coverage was much fuller, and after a few days of use I could tell it made my foundation was lasting WAY longer. Again, it’s just one of those products that’s well worth the money.

3. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

Yet another product I doubted would make a difference in my makeup routine, but boy was I wrong. I don’t have awful dark circles under my eyes because I am pretty well rested, but this concealer does help brighten and make me look more awake. I use the lightest shade because I really want to add some dimension to my face. Besides using it under my eye, I do a quick line down my nose, a triangle on my lower forehead, a circle on my chin, and a dot on my cupid’s bow. I find that this makes me look more alive and youthful. Plus, this isn’t an expensive product what-so-ever!

5. Benefit The POREfessional Matte Rescue

I can’t say enough that my skin is SO oily. One product that did help a lot with my oily t-zone is the Benefit The POREfessional Matte Rescue primer. It not only stops my skin from getting oily a few hours into the day, but helps my foundation stay in place for a LONG time. This has to be the best primer out on the market for oily skin!

6. Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner

I honestly just started using this product again last week after using an eyeliner by Loreal. I cannot believe I stopped using it because it is so pigmented. This eyeliner is great for giving a really thin line and a sharp wing. I can usually make the perfect wing on the first try. I like to get ready under 45 minutes in the mornings, so an eyeliner that is easy and quick to use is necessary!

7. The Perfect Lippie

This isn’t really a specific favorite, but I do think wearing at least a lip tint completes any look. For me, having pale lips makes me look drained and sickly. Adding a peachy lip gloss like Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in Peach Daiquiri can help add a little color and shine to make you look more put together.

8. Coconut Oil

You’ve probably heard before that coconut oil can be used for about anything, and that’s the truth. I mainly use it for washing my face at night. I know I just said a million times that my skin is super oily, but surprisingly coconut oil helps control my oiliness. Since I spend A LOT of time in the pool, the chlorine dries out my skin and then it starts to overproduce oil. If I use coconut oil as my face wash, it adds the oil back to my skin and stops the overproduction. It’s great at taking off makeup, and it is SO cheap.

9. Apple Cider Vinegar

Yes, I use apple cider vinegar as a toner, but don’t assume I’m crazy just yet. I mentioned earlier how bad my acne scarring is, and this product has helped immensely. It helps to lighten the scarring and dries out any active pimples. It is drying, so using an oil like coconut oil with it can help moisturize.

10. Tea Tree Oil

This is the last of the three natural products I use on my skin. I mix this with my moisturizer or serum to help soothe my skin. It helps with active pimples and scarring as well. I’ve used it on bug bites too and they go away almost instantly. This is another cheap product that I don’t think I could live without!

11. Spanx

I think a lot of teenage girls are afraid of spanx for some reason, and they shouldn’t be. I have a million pairs of spanx for wearing under tight or loose dresses. The main thing I love spanx for is tucking in shirts. This hack truly changed my life because I wear loose blouses a lot. I tuck my shirt into a pair of tight spanx so when I lift my arms, my shirt doesn’t fly out of my bottoms or become messily tucked in. Remember the Old Navy skirts from my Styling Suede Skirts post? I was totally using this hack in both looks.

12. A Good Pair Of Dark Wash Jeans

Have I preached enough that dark wash jeans are a necessary component to any wardrobe? Dark wash is the most classic wash, and they’re so easy to style. I’ve always been a fan of Gap jeans. They’re my all-time favorite, and I’ve been wearing the same pair since my freshman year. I’ve linked a similar pair here.

13. A White Blouse

It wouldn’t be a favorites post unless I mentioned a white blouse. I won’t ramble on about it for too long, but they’re seriously so versatile. Wear it with jeans and flats for a casual look or pair it with a pencil skirt and blazer for work attire. It has to be the staple pieces of all staple pieces for me!

14. A Seersucker dress

Lauren James has the most gorgeous seersucker dresses that are perfect for any occasion. I have the Landry, and have my eye on the Emerson. If it isn’t in your budget, don’t fret! Lauren James has a Pink Friday sale once a year where you can get the dresses for MUCH cheaper. It’s best to buy early on during the sale because popular colors go relatively quickly.

15. A Jean Jacket

Perfect for summer, winter, spring, and fall, a quality jean jacket is easy to throw on with any outfit. My personal favorite jean jacket outfit is a white tee, leggings, and, of course, a jean jacket!  Throw on some cute tennis shoes and you’re on your way.

16. A Peacoat

This is a pricier item, but I promise it’s worth it. Peacoats are so classic and great to have in your wardrobe for events where you need to be a little more dressed up. I have a navy peacoat because that’s the traditional color, but I’d love to get a pink or gray one. Mine is from Gap, but Old Navy has an inexpensive alternative. Plus, it comes in five different colors!

17. Pearl Earrings

Another classic piece, shocker! But seriously, pearl earrings are a must-have for preppy girls. They’re perfect for everyday wear, and great for all ages. I have a pair of Kate Spade reversible pearl earrings, so they have a giant pink pearl on one side and a rose gold bow on the other (no longer available!). These aren’t as classic as regular pearl earrings, but I absolutely love them. It’s totally up to you and your budget to decide how much you want to spend since you can get faux pearls for pretty cheap!

18. A Good Bag

I’m using the term “good” loosely in this context because everyone has a different perception on a good quality bag. It doesn’t matter if you spend $1,000+ or less than $100, a good bag is a bag that makes you feel invincible. I truly believe with the right bag in my hand, I can accomplish anything. I couldn’t pick out of my bags one favorite, so let’s just say purses in general are my favorite!

If I could pick only 18 beauty/fashion items to have, these would be it! I don’t mind spending a little extra money on these 18 things because I know it’s well worth it.

Don’t forget to stay tuned the rest of this week for more birthday posts, and to find out where I’m going to attend college next year! Follow me on Instagram and Facebook for more of my daily life!
