5 Pieces to Have For When You Don’t Know What to Wear

Hello friends! In today’s blog post I’m going to be sharing a few of my favorite pieces to have for when you just don’t know what to wear. Sometimes, I don’t have the time to “shop” my closet and try to put together an original outfit. Having a few pieces that I know I can always throw on and create an effortlessly fabulous look makes life SO much easier. This has been a daily dilemma for me lately, so I thought I’d compile a list of a few of the best pieces for days when you don’t know what to wear!

1. Bralettes

I’ve been a huge fan of laced trimmed bralettes lately, especially for oversized sweaters that tend to fall off my shoulder. Bralettes can be layered under anything oversized, including tees. Wearing one under an oversized tee adds a bit of detail to the look. Bralettes are versatile and come in a ton of colors and styles, so it’s easy to find one you love! My favorite bralettes are from Altar’d State because they are inexpensive but great quality!

2. A Fun Jacket/Coat

I’ve found that the easiest way to spice up a look is with a fun coat. Fur, velvet, pink, or leopard, it does not matter! Any kind of statement coat will instantly make your outfit look more interesting. My personal favorite right now is this fur jacket from Old Navy. It’s thick, warm , and super fluffy!

3. Statement Shoes

My life would not be complete without a pair of statement shoes. Sometimes, my outfit just needs a little something to finish it off, and most of the time it can be achieved by throwing on a pair of statement shoes. I love my black and white Bass Weejuns because of the contrast of colors. Paired with a black sweater and jeans, they add the pop of fun the outfit needs.bass weejuns

4. An Oversized Sweater

Usually when I don’t know what to where it’s because I am too lazy to think of an outfit. I naturally gravitate towards pieces that are comfortable, but cute. With my life being crazy busy right now, I find myself reaching for oversized cardigans and pullovers all the time. Not only are they super cozy, but the oversized messy look is adorable when executed correctly. I’ve been dying to get this Gap mockneck pullover below!

5. Zippered Leggings

I don’t wear leggings often, but when I do, I wear ones with zipper details on them. Like I said before, I gravitate towards pieces that are comfortable when I don’t know what to wear. On these days, I’m not always up for putting on a pair of jeans. The zipper detailing on the leggings adds detail and even makes them a little bit more dressy. Both the pairs of zippered leggings I have are from Gap.

I’d say the key to creating the perfect look on days where you don’t know what to wear is to pick items that will add detail. Don’t get me wrong, I love basic looks, but they always look better when they are accessorized. For me, having these five pieces in my closet has helped me on the days where I just really don’t want to think too hard about what to wear!
