Hello lovelies! During the cold weather months, I love wearing turtlenecks to keep warm. I love all kinds of turtlenecks, but I will always gravitate towards simple, black ones. They are classic, chic, and can be styled so many different ways. They can be dressed up, or down, and are the perfect top for any event. Today, I’m sharing four of my favorite ways to style a black turtleneck!
Turtleneck of choice: Gap Featherweight Turtleneck
You can get black turtlenecks pretty much anywhere, but the Gap Featherweight Turtleneck is the one I’m showcasing today. Not only is it buttery soft, but it’s lightweight so it won’t bunch up when you tuck it in to jeans, pants, and skirts.
For this first look, we’re starting out as simple and classic as possible. It’s perfect for shopping, dinner, and just about every casual occasion you can think of. I love how minimalistic is because you can wear this combination over and over again without it looking repetitive. Super dark wash jeans look best with this outfit because they look more expensive compared any other wash. I’d finish this look off with sleek, straight hair and a bold red lip to accentuate the chicness of this ensemble.
We all have those days where we just don’t want to get dressed up, but still don’t want to look like a train wreck. For those days, I where something like this look because it’s comfortable but still put together. Since the turtleneck is lightweight, you can easily layer over a cardigan without it looking bulky. The balloon sleeves on this cardi from Gap are so on trend, and it adds an oversized element to make the outfit seem even more cozy. For the jeans, I chose a medium light wash because I did not want too much of a contrasts with the boots. To finish the look off, I added this adorable beanie from Nordstrom because who really wants to do their hair on a lazy day?!
What combination is better than plaid, velvet, and fur for the holiday season?! This next look is perfect for any holiday party you may have to attend. I chose this Gap plaid skirt because it has an elasticized waist so there isn’t any need to skip dessert. The fur jacket is one of my all time faves, and the black velvet heels added another fun texture to the look. To accessorize, I added a beret and pearl embellished bag because the two trends are all the rage right now.
I honestly did not want to use a fur jacket again for this look, but I couldn’t resist! With the pants and top being tightfitting, the fur jacket adds the oversized element needed in this look. I paired it with leopard print booties and a maroon bag for a pop of pattern and color. Out of all the outfits in this post, this one has to be my fave!
A black turtleneck is my favorite piece because of how versatile it is. It can be classic, chic, trendy, and even grungy! It’s one of those pieces that will never go out of style, so it’s well worth the investment to purchase a good quality one.
