Hello lovelies! For the past year I’ve been struggling with acne, oily skin, and scarring. Makeup is a lifesaver and I’ve gotten pretty good at covering up the scarring, but I’d really love to have skin clear again so I can cut down time on my morning routine. I use to have very deep, cystic acne, but lately my breakouts tend to be small pimples that pass quickly. Although my face isn’t completely clear yet, actually it’s far from, I thought I’d share the routine I’ve been doing for awhile now that’s finally working, I hope!
Every morning and night I use the Tea Tree Oil face wash by The Body Shop. I picked up my bottle at Marshalls for only $10, but you can find it at Ulta too. In the morning, I wash my face using just my hands. In the evening, I use it with a wash cloth to gently exfoliate the dead skin off my face. Tea tree oil is great for both drying acne, and fading scars.
After I’ve cleansed my skin, I use apple cider vinegar to tone and to get any excess makeup off. I pour a little bit on a cotton round and focus the application on my problem areas where I have the most scarring and acne. I’ve used apple cider vinegar on my skin for half a year now, and I’ve noticed it helps with oil control and fading scars.
I use Bio Oil both day and night. It helps with fading acne scarring, like most of the products I use do. I mentioned in the beginning of this post that I have oily skin, so why do I put more oil on my face? Adding more oil helps your face to not overproduce oil. Within the first week of using oil on my face, there was a noticeable difference in the amount of oil my face produced. I can honestly say I don’t have oily skin anymore because I use oil to moisturize!
Along with Bio Oil, I use vitamin E oil both day and night. Vitamin E oil is great for moisturizing, but it has been the best product I’ve found for fading scars. I’ve been using it for about a month, and I find that acne marks fade much quicker!
At night, I put a few drops of pure tea tree oil on my hand and rub it all over my face. When I have a breakout, I focus the tea tree oil on the area. I’m a huge fan of tea tree oil because it not only smells good, but it dries out acne quickly so breakouts won’t last long! Sometimes my pimples are very sore, and it makes me want to pop them to relieve the pressure. Tea tree oil has a nice cooling burn that can temporarily relieve the pain!
When I have a really stubborn pimple, I use the Kiehls Blue Herbal Spot Treatment. It contains salicylic acid, so it is very drying. Using the oils I mentioned above really helps to prevent dryness!
Two to three times a week, I use the Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment, and oh my gosh does this product work. I never really minded having big pores, until I started using this product. When I washed the mask off for the first time, I immediately noticed that my pores were virtually nonexistent, and my blackheads were all gone. It helps with drying any breakouts I have too!
With this routine, my acne marks are a lot less red and inflamed, and my scarring is starting to fade a lot. I’ve finally tackled my oily skin, so I’m only dealing with acne scarring and the occasional pimple now!
